Kunsthal Nikolaj, Copenhagen
"Kunsternes København" is the title of a group exhibition at Nikolaj Kunsthal that zooms in on representations of the city as experienced through the eyes of artists. The exhibition features works by, among others, Molly Haslund, Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsen, Skjold Rambow, SUPERFLEX, Uffe Isolotto, and Sahar Jamili.
Outside on Nikolaj Plads, Peter Bonnén’s iconic 1975 work “Cornfield on Nikolaj Plads” is also being re-created. A golden cornfield in the middle of the city is meant to spark conversations about both the past and the future of the land we move across, cultivate, and fight over. The re-creation is carried out in close collaboration with Golden Days, which this year has added “in the countryside” to the festival’s title.
The exhibition “Artists’ Copenhagen” is held on the occasion of the World Capital of Architecture.

Sahar Jamili seeks to reconcile an internal split and assert an insistence on being oneself, an identity composed of fragments. The oversized chandelier draws on a cultural tradition in which large chandeliers are displayed in living rooms as symbols of wealth and status. By amplifying its scale, Jamili both embraces and reclaims this symbol, turning it into a powerful expression of presence, complexity, and belonging. The work becomes a way of reclaiming space in society and reimagining the outsider’s position as something expansive and deeply valuable, rather than marginal.
